  • A king cobra is a reptile, they are cold-blooded and the same temperature as the environment around them.
  • They are one of the most venomous snakes on the planet, while the venom is not the most potent in the world, they are able to release enough venom in 1 bite to kill 20 people, or an elephant.
  • If bitten, a person will begin to have troubling breathing, thinking, and their heart will start fail.
  • King cobras can grow up to 18 feet long and can “stand-up” and be eye level with a person of average height (5’6”).
  • They usually weigh around 20 pounds and are able to lift a 3rd of it’s body off the ground and continue to move.
  • Whenever possible, King cobra’s tend to steer away from people. King cobras also live an average of 20 years.
  • King cobras live mainly in the rain forests and plains of India, southern China, and Southeast Asia.
  • Their color changes depending on where they live, and they are known to inhabit a wide variety of areas, from forests to rivers.
  • They will feed on other snakes, even if the other snake is poisonous. They also feed on lizards, eggs, and small mammals.
  • They are the only snakes in the world that make a nest for it’s eggs.
